World-Class Billiards Talent to Showcase at WPBA Fairfield Invitational
FAIREFIELD, Iowa (March 11, 2024) – The Women’s Professional Billiard Association (WPBA) is thrilled to announce the Fairfield Invitational, a landmark event in women’s sports and billiards, set to take place from March 21st to 24th at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center. This prestigious tournament will bring together 48 of the world’s most talented professional women billiards players, including top-ranked athletes and international stars, to compete in a four-day showdown that promises to captivate spectators and elevate the profile of Fairfield on the global stage.
It was the fourth time Fairfield has hosted an event sanctioned by the Women’s Professional Billiard Association. The 2023 tournament was won by Kelly Fisher of England, who defeated a fellow Brit and fellow Fisher, Allison Fisher, 10 games to 7 in nine-ball. Kelly Fisher also won this tournament the last time it was held in Fairfield in 2021.
The 2024 tournament will feature some of the most accomplished players in the world of billiards. Attendees will have the chance to see Allison Fisher, the “Duchess of Doom,” with more than 80 national titles and 11 world championships; Margarita Fefilova, the European 9-ball champion; Kristina Tkach, ranked #6 globally; and Veronique Menard, the two-time Canadian Champion. Their presence, along with other elite competitors, ensures an electrifying atmosphere filled with breathtaking moments and fierce competition.
Leading up to the tournament, billiards enthusiasts will have the unique chance to engage with their favorite players through coaching sessions and challenge matches at Mad Hatter Billiards in Fairfield. Highlights include a special appearance by the legendary Allison Fisher on Wed, March 20. On Tuesday, March 19, 2023 VNEA Hall of Fame Inductee Lonnie Fox-Raymond, Angela Janic, and Teruko Cucculelli will be available for challenge matches and opportunities for photos and autographs. 4th ranked Brittany “The Bombshell” Bryant will be on hand These pre-event activities provide fans with an intimate experience to learn from and interact with the best in the sport. There will also be a pro-am meet and greet on Thursday March 21st. Limited to 36 players, $65 each, with proceeds going to the Fairfield Kiwanis Club.
