AMES, Iowa (February 27, 2025) — Reiman Gardens is proud to announce a series of educational programs and events in honor of its 30th anniversary. Under the theme “Picture Perfect: Celebrating 30 Years of Beauty at Reiman Gardens,” the yearlong celebration will feature party-themed garden displays, signature events, and engaging educational opportunities that highlight the Gardens’ vibrant landscapes, creative exhibits, and community spirit.

A Legacy in Bloom

Since its dedication on September 16, 1995, Reiman Gardens has flourished into one of the Midwest’s premier botanical gardens, offering stunning seasonal displays, a world-class butterfly wing, and diverse gardens showcasing sustainability and horticultural excellence. Over the past 30 years, it has grown into a beloved destination for nature lovers, students, and families, fostering a deep appreciation for plants, pollinators, and conservation efforts.

Exciting Events & Programs for 2025

To mark this milestone, Reiman Gardens will host more than two hundred unique events, exhibits, and educational workshops throughout the year, including:

  • Spring Enchantment (April 1 – May 12) Visitors can explore themed gardens adorned with over 50,000 tulips and daffodils. The event also features a scavenger hunt for creature homes and fairy doors, providing fun for all ages. New in 2025, Reiman Gardens will host its first Spring Enchantment Festival on Saturday, April 19, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. This event will feature emerging local artists, an outdoor concert by artist Chad Elliott, and more.
  • Rovers at Reiman (Tuesdays in April): Dog lovers are invited to walk their pets amidst the beautiful spring blooms.
  • 11th Annual Plant Sale (May 10-11): A two-day event featuring a wide variety of plants available for purchase.
  • “Picture Perfect” Summer Exhibit (May 31 – September 30): An enchanting display of Instagrammable scenes and backdrops that honor the past, present, and future of Reiman Gardens.
  • Iowa Songwriters Showcase: A new outdoor concert series featuring six performances on June 3, June 17, July 1, July 15, July 29, and August 12.
  • Floral Shows: The Rose Show on June 14 and the Lily Show on June 28 return to delight flower enthusiasts.
  • Pollinator Fest (June 21): A family-friendly event focusing on the importance of pollinators, complete with hands-on activities and educational exhibits.
  • Garden Art Fair (July 13): One of Central Iowa’s largest outdoor art festivals featuring over 100 artists. Items for sale include paintings, blown glass, photography, nature-inspired jewelry, clothing, and more.
  • Farm to Table Event (September 11): Chef Aaron Holt of Doolittle Farm LLC will prepare an in-season, locally grown feast to celebrate Reiman Gardens’ Grow and Give Produce Donation Program. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated to local food pantries to help offset costs as they move into the season of the year when fresh produce is not easily accessible. 
  • The Botanical Bash: Reiman Gardens’ 30th Anniversary Community Celebration (September 13) The “main event,” featuring a live outdoor concert, food trucks, a silent auction, inflatables, scavenger hunts, self-guided tours, and a drone show. Sponsored in part by Discover Ames.
  • Elwood’s Very Merry Unbirthday Party (September 15) Help us celebrate Elwood’s (the World’s Largest Concrete Gnome) 15th birthday! On this local day-off from school, celebrate with songs, stories, a petting zoo, a gnome costume contest, coloring station, and cupcakes!
