About Iowa Conservatory: After years of planning and development, Iowa Conservatory opened its doors to its inaugural class in August of 2023. Located in downtown Iowa City, ICON is a co-ed private boarding and day performing arts school that serves 8th – 12th grades plus a postgraduate Gap Year program. Additionally, Summer Intensives registration for 2024 is now open.

Our mission at ICON is to provide students with a safe, interdisciplinary, holistic arts education focused on designing a path specific to each learner’s artistic goals. We cultivate the skills our students need to compete in the top 10% of artists entering college and other post-secondary artistic pursuits, opening doors to scholarship and professional opportunities. Network-building workshops, masterclasses, and seminars with special guest teachers and mentors from the industry broaden students’ professional reach. Our arts program is offered for the academic year students’ semester schedule and includes an academic course of study through the Iowa City Community School District’s Online Program.
