Neighborhood Finance Corporation (NFC) will celebrate the purchase and renovation of 4908 Franklin Ave and 34th Anniversary of lending in Polk County on May 7, 2024.
DES MOINES, Iowa (April 30, 2024) – Neighborhood Finance Corporation (NFC), a nonprofit lender with a 34-year history in Polk County, is proud to announce the celebration of its new location, with $1,000,000 of renovations completed in December 2023, at 4908 Franklin Ave, Des Moines, Iowa. Join us for a community open house on May 7, 2024, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, as we mark this milestone with excitement and gratitude.
The event will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the FUSE and Westside Chambers of Commerce, accompanied by speeches from local elected officials and community leaders at 5:00 pm. This occasion signifies NFC’s dedication to serving Des Moines since 1990.
NFC’s commitment to revitalizing neighborhoods through affordable renovation loans began in 1990 as a partnership with the City of Des Moines, Polk County, local financial institutions, and neighborhoods. Over the years, NFC’s impact has been substantial, with 8,000 households served in Polk County through $70 million in forgivable loans and loss reserves from local governments, leveraging an additional $170 million in private capital from local financial institutions.
Since 2016, NFC has also provided $9,507,500 in downpayment assistance to 601 households in Polk County, furthering its mission of creating accessible homeownership opportunities. Additionally, NFC Properties LLC has contributed by building or renovating over 200 homes since 2008.

As we celebrate our 34th Anniversary, it’s a moment to reflect on NFC’s $450 million investments in Polk County since 1990 and the lasting impact on our communities.”
