Skate with Santa
2nd Annual Skate with Santa and support our US Military Veterans and their families this Holiday Season!
COON RAPIDS, Minn. (November 29, 2023) – Operation Healing Heroes Foundation (Nonprofit) will host the Second Annual “Fighting for Freedom from Post-Traumatic Stress – Skate with Santa and Charity Hockey Game” taking place at the Coon Rapids Ice Center – 11000 Crooked Lake Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433 on Sunday, December 10th from 10:30am – 3:00pm.
The event will include a “Public Skate with Santa” on BOTH the indoor and the outdoor rinks, along with a FUN hockey game featuring retired NHL Legends, US Military Veteran Hockey Players and the Minnesota Blue Ox Junior A Hockey Team. The event is intended to raise awareness of Post-Traumatic Stress with our veterans and their family members.

During the event, we will be honoring a LOCAL WWII Veteran – Don Halverson (100 Years young!!) – He will be dropping the “ceremonial first puck”. Our “keynote speaker” will be US Military Veteran – Bill Hayes – who is ALSO a 9/11 FDNY Ground Zero Firefighter – who was a first responder on 9/11/2001 and spent 48 hours “on the pile” – with his family thinking he perished that day…
Bill also played goalie for the FDNY hockey team and will have his 9/11 fire helmet, along with his FDNY painted goalie mask on display!
We will have local Coon Rapids Youth Hockey players taking the ice during intermission, and several silent auction items – including autographed jerseys – signed by the retired NHL Legends, US Military Hockey players & the Minnesota Blue Ox who participate in the game!
The day will conclude with raffles, prizes and free gifts from Santa!
