Jim Caviezel Challenges Crowd to be Courageous in Defending Children
ST. CHARLES, MO (September 11, 2023) – More than 1,600 pro-life Missourians converged at the St. Charles Convention Center for the Keep Missouri Pro-Life! Banquet 2023 hosted by Missouri Right to Life Eastern Region.
Missouri Right to Life President Steve Rupp emceed the event and encouraged the crowd to lead like never before for life in their communities. He said, “Human dignity is not determined by our size, environment, or degree of development,” to win the battle and Keep Missouri Pro-Life, it will take “leadership.” He then inspired the crowd to follow Missouri Right to Life’s lead.
The Champion of Life Award is given by Missouri Right to Life to individuals who have tirelessly dedicated their lives to protect and defend the sanctity of life. This year’s recipient was Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke, who has tirelessly participated in pro-life activities in Missouri and throughout the world. Cardinal Burke expressed his deepest gratitude and said, “In honoring me, you are honoring all who assisted me in defending human life… in loving and defending the innocent, the unborn, and (those with) special needs, illness, and advanced years.”
The banquet’s featured speaker was actor Jim Caviezel who drew thunderous applause and standing ovations as he shared with the sold-out crowd his commitment to protecting the lives of all children—born and unborn. He spoke of the beauty of the adoption of their children, and of the brutal reality of human trafficking. He said “the beginning of life is the foundation of the beginning of love,” and said: “God needs us to be courageous in defending these precious children and the lives of those unborn.” Caviezel closed his comments with a powerful quote from President Ronald Reagan: “Evil is powerless if the good are unafraid.”
